The creation of The Fit to Wed the series, came from a perspective on marriage after Vicky has spent approximately 40 years in two marriages one ended in divorce after almost 19 years and the second one ended in death. Both previous spouses are currently deceased. She said “After coming out of a grieving process from my spouse who passed away during Covid I had a lot of time to reflect on both relationships. Now to reflecting on the relationships and looking at the work that she’s done as an attorney her perspective on marriage doesn’t just come from a textbook. It comes from deep, live experiences, both personal and professional.
You see marriage is one of the biggest decision individuals will ever make yet for something so life-changing, something that shapes our families, our futures, and generations to come, so many times we walk into it with surprisingly little preparation and realizing this is what ultimately inspired her to create Fit to Wed.
Currie stated “After reflecting on both of my marriages, I realize the dating phases have been pretty short like a lot of couples we would put our best foot forward in the beginning looking back now I see that there was a lot of masking going on whether conscious or unconscious I realize that both parties showed the best sides while their existed deeper patterns of potential in compatibilities that would surface throughout the marriage. I realize that after I said I do many times I thought maybe I don’t or at least I should’ve waited in my profession. I’ve witnessed countless divorces as a family law attorney. I’ve listened to endless stories from people watching their marriages fall apart, and there’s one phrase that I hear more than almost than the other, ‘I thought I knew who I married, but they turned out to be someone completely different’ and I realized that people weren’t marrying the wrong person.”
They were marrying someone they simply hadn’t taken time to truly get to know and she thought to herself what if couples had a real way to understand each other before getting married? What if they had the tools to explore the areas that actually make or break marriages, things like core values, emotional health, communication styles, finances, Faith, family dynamics, and personal growth. What if they could spot potential conflicts early enough to work through them instead of stumbling into them years later in a crisis situation these questions became the heartbeat of this reality TV show, Fit To Wed. The show includes a book and a couples manual an app that they are still working on and a training program, designed to help couples slow down. It is designed to help them ask the hard questions and develop self-awareness and mutual understanding. It takes to build a lasting marriage and the end goal isn’t perfection because there’s no such thing as a perfect marriage, the goal is preparation.
Fit to Wed isn’t here to discourage marriage. It is here to strengthen it. It is designed to help you move beyond the initial rush of attraction and toward a true alignment, honest communication and shared purpose because when two people truly know each other when they grow together, talk openly and build their lives on solid ground. The result isn’t just a marriage that survives. It is a marriage that thrives! We can’t wait to see Season 1 of the new hit reality show Fit to Wed!
